Keeena specialises in drafting and negotiation of commercial documents, advisory work on matters relating to mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, due diligence investigations, drafting shareholders agreements, sale of shares, memoranda of incorporation subscription agreements, board and shareholder resolutions and drafting of legal opinions and the identification of legal risks.
Keeena earned her Law degree cum laude from the University of the Free State in 2019 and pursued advanced studies by completing her LLM in International Economic Law in 2021. Her LLM focused on the regulation of free trade between nations, with her dissertation titled:
“Dispute Settlement Mechanisms in the African Continental Free Trade Agreement: Lessons from the WTO Crisis.”
Her research critically evaluates the efficiency of the dispute settlement mechanism established under the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) compared to the now-defunct WTO dispute settlement mechanism.She emphasizes the importance of this mechanism in advancing the AfCFTA’s primary objective: increasing intra-African trade to boost the economies of African nations. However, she also warns that an ineffective mechanism could hinder progress and exacerbate the economic struggles facing African economies.
